A note from Stuart Zadel

22 July 2008

Dear Friend,

Now that we're over half way through the year and we're about to launch into our next round of exciting events, there's been a lot of talk about the importance of maintaining a work/life balance in our office of late.

Often one of the best things you can do is take time out by having a short break to re-evaluate where you are and to get a new perspective. Frequently though, the truth is that starting, running or growing a business doesn't always afford you that luxury.

Last week however I caught up with my best friend John, in my home town of Cronulla, and this had a similar effect for me. I haven't seen him for quite some time, and although life has moved on for both of us, we will always be best friends.

John and I both enjoy motor bikes, in fact, I think I got him interested in them to begin with and so he always asks me if I miss my bike since I sold it. Before I tell you my response, check out these photos of me with my bike...

Beautiful bike hey? I still love just looking at it. For me it is still the best looking performance bike ever built. It's a BMW K1200RS and it was my dream bike. Now that was several years ago, and a newer, even more powerful model has been released and yes, I miss it. John still can't believe I sold it, as he knows how much I wanted that bike.

The reason I share this though, is that while I loved riding that bike, my business life was getting more and more demanding and I just wasn't getting enough free time to enjoy my bike. I just didn't think it was right to have that machine garaged, slowly wasting away, and depriving someone else of the pleasure of riding it.

I was fully aware of the commitments I was making to my business and the time resources it would demand to achieve my more important goals. I also know that you need a clear mind, free from trouble, confusion and emotional stress to safely ride a bike through the Royal National park south of Sydney. And so, I made a clear decision to sell it.

What I was doing was entering a period of life that would be dedicated to business and mastering my financial future. I'm sure in the not too distant future I'll be able to return to enjoying the newer model, but that's not where my focus is right now!

Below I will describe to you how I attracted this beautiful bike into my life and how you can use the same process for anything you would like.

Before I do though, I want to leave you with this thought. 'The practical meaning of sacrifice is to give up something of a lower nature, to attain something of a higher nature.' This is how I view releasing my bike to go for some bigger goals.

"Opinions are the cheapest commodities on Earth. Everybody has a flock of opinions ready to be wished upon anyone who will accept them. If you are influenced by "opinions" when you reach decisions, you will not succeed in any undertaking, much less in that of transmuting your own desire into money."

Weekly Success Tip

If there was just one skill, technique, or idea I could share with you to help you be successful and attract everything you want into your life… this would be it.

Every Morning When You Wake Up,
Write Down Your Most Important Goals

The truth is, there is more to do and experience in modern life than you have time and resources. Consequently you are going to have to say 'No' to the good, so you can say 'Yes' to the best.

Many years ago I discovered this technique and used it to completely change my life. Here's what I did…

I allowed myself only a short period of time, say 20 minutes to half an hour, to sit down and write out every thing I could possibly want to do, be and have in my life time.

I gave no thought to how I was going to accomplish it, I just wrote it out, all of it. Now, if you do this too, you will find that in most cases, 90% or more of everything you have ever wanted to do will come out on that piece of paper in that short period of time.

The next thing I did was to simply isolate the most important goals on this list and then write these out daily on a piece of paper.

It really is that simple!

Now I could spend three days straight talking to you all about why this does and doesn't work for people, and some key nuances around it, but the key question will still be;

Does it work for you?

Well why not try it and you tell me, you've got nothing to lose!

In fact, set yourself a challenge...
